A level playing-field for access into the film industry

Partnered with Jobcentre Plus, we provide training to unemployed young people in every department of our productions.

Mentored by experienced, award-winning production crew, we fill a critical gap in provision for the many talented young people who lack the contacts, resources or belief necessary to develop a career in the industry. 90% of our trainees have since gone on to work within film or media. 100% of participants would recommend our training.

  • India Martin – Art Trainee (TERRY & TIARA)

“I have gained more confidence, industry contacts and a much better understanding of the filmmaking process, especially the storyboarding process and lighting setups! I can now completely see the pathway to  a career within the film industry.”

  • Lewis Tappenden – First AD Trainee (TERRY & TIARA)

“This was one of the best experiences of my life, I can’t thank Signature Pictures and everyone involved enough for how enjoyable and enlightening the training was.”

  • Emily Stokes, Sound Trainee (WHEN I GROW UP…)

“I think this initiative is invaluable to newcomers to the industry. It puts you steps ahead starting out in the industry, giving you practical experience, more of an insight into “set life” and gives you great contacts.”

  • Darryl Womersley, First AD Trainee (WHEN I GROW UP…)

“I had a brilliant week and think the training is excellent. I was very shy to begin with and the whole process gave me new found confidence.”

  • Bryony Hooper, Trainee Producer (WHEN I GROW UP…)

Since my experience on WHEN I GROW UP… I have won a place on Screen Yorkshire’s work experience programme and secured £2.5k to produce my own short film. More people need to know about this, it’s brilliant!”

  • Harry Postelthwaite, Trainee Director (WHEN I GROW UP…)

“It was a great experience and I feel like I can definitely get a job in the film industry as a result.”

  • Robert Charles Moore, Trainee DoP (WHEN I GROW UP…)

“It is a project that I would recommend to anyone who would want to get into the film industry as it gives you an insight into what is required and allows you to make contacts as well. The HODs were amazing.”

  • Conor Pigott-Dix, PR Trainee (BELLE)

“My time with Signature Pictures was eye-opening. I was charged with real responsibility and my ideas were listened to. I learnt something new every day and I now actually work as a Sales and Marketing Manager, a job I got solely off the back of this placement.”

  • Sarah Crouch, Trainee Producer (BELLE)

“I actually went down the Television route rather than film, but my experience with Signature Pictures was invaluable in achieving this. I have spent the last two years going between productions for NBCUniversal, whilst this year I have spent most of my time in their development unit as a Junior Casting Researcher on various Entertainment and Factual Entertainment development projects.”

  • Guy Larsen, Trainee Director (BELLE)

“I am no longer on Jobseeker’s Allowance, I have been employed by Google making films for one of their largest YouTube channels. I have Signature Pictures to thank for this.”
